all hail Luke Steele and Nick Littlemore reigning from the Empire of the Sun. With their debut single, “Walking on a Dream,” (EMI Music-Australia) this electronic duo from Perth, Australia have taken their homeland and the UK by storm. In the US, they have been featured in Jay-Z’s latest album, The Blueprint 3 -”What We Talkin’ About,” and on an episode of HBO’s Entourage.
EOTS is a visual music duo and they can paint as well as they can compose. When i was finally exposed to their entirety - something completely amazing happened … i found a force that exploded into something wonderful and unexpected which found a way into every pore of my being.
the Walking On a Dream album is very raw. raw in the sense where its like throwing a helicopter, sea shells, swordfish, grass, reindeer, a beat machine, tigers, windmills, a guitar, environmentalism, and pure emotions in a blender and ending up with something unique. keeping true to their electronic sound, the songs vary from these crazy choppy/loud beats to this mystical ebb and flow or sometimes a little of both. ah, as well as some dancy rock throwbacks.
their posters are these 80s inspired fantasy throwbacks, but its really great how their visions and music come full circle. it is amazing to be able to imagine all of the things they conjure up and to be able to share their visions with others.
