I can understand remaking a movie that was made decades ago, but Let the Right One In came out in 2008. It’s the subtitles isnt it?
Matt Reeves is directing the American remake of the Swedish horror movie Let the Right One In. Actually, he is renaming the film to its more accurate translation, Let Me In. The movie is scheduled for release in 2010. If you are having a hard time placing where you have heard of Matt Reeves, he was the one who was responsible for Cloverfield (2008).
So in Mr. Reeves’ rendition, Oskar and Eli are now Owen (Kodi Smit-McPhee) and Abby (Chloe Moretz). Just looking at Moretz, I just can’t see it happening. Lina Leandersson’s look and talent is just so natural and raw.
Let the Right One In is already epic, why waste money and effort in remaking something thats already true to form, had the author of the book write the screenplay, and having a setting which sets the dark tone for the whole movie. Let Me In is set to happen in NEW MEXICO. The only thing going good for this movie so far is Richard Jenkins, Abby’s Guardian, formerly known as Eli’s Guardian, Hakan. This all just seems like a pathetic attempt to waste money trying to obtain a foothold in the whole vampire crazed fangirl scene.
Kare Hedebrant (Oskar) & Lina Leandersson (Eli)
